New Delhi's Indira Gandhi Airport's low cost operators' 1D terminal is reportedly not to be demolished as was earlier planned for so as to make space for new developments by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL).
New Delhi Airport's 1D Terminal
Instead, as per the new plans reported in LiveMint(dot)com, plans are on to make Terminal 1D a dedicated one for domestic as well as international low-cost airlines. As per the original plans, all airlines were to shift their operations to the new T3 terminal.Terminal 1D is currently used by domestic low-cost airlines such as IndiGo, SpiceJet and GoAir, and they too were expected to move to T3 by the end of this month.
This anticipated step would help keep the newly operational Terminal T3 less congested, which can cater to the high-end national and international airlines.
