Las Vegas City in America hosts The Annual Brick Masonry Laying World Championship- 'SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500'

For the promotion of enhanced and sustained use of cement, concrete, masonry and allied building materials, the construction industry's one of the representative association faces in the United States of America called the 'World Of Concrete (WOC)' keeps organizing special events, education programmes, seminars, marketing interactions, exhibitions, et al. round the year.

As part of its aforecited scheduled events, WOC also organizes the Annual Brick Masonry Laying World Championship, which has been termed as 'SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500'

The grand finale of the 'Spec Mix Bricklayer 500' event, which succeeds the multiple zonal preliminaries, is hosted in the city of Las Vegas usually in the month of January. This year's grand finale was organized on 18th January. A total of 25 teams (comprising of a Brick Mason/ Bricklayer and a Brick Tender) competed in this years final event.

For the event, the interested masons start training heavily to hone their skills, speed and stamina in the hope of winning the competition. Before reaching the finals of this Mega Brick Laying and Masonry skill showing event, the shortlisted/nominated bricklayers must advance to the final round, along with their Bricks Tender team-mate, by topping at any one of the 22 Regional competitions across the United States and Canada. 

The teams get flat 60 minutes to show their workmanship in the shape of skill, speed, accuracy, finish, finesse, height (of a double brick course), and similar pre-set conditions. The team which excels in all these departments wins the competition, and pockets US$15,000 along with other sponsored prizes (This year's draw was Ford Super Duty F-250 XLT 4x4 truck)

As regarding the event planners and organizers, i.e., World Of Concrete (WOC), they define themselves as the construction "industry's only annual international event dedicated to the commercial concrete and masonry construction industries showcasing leading industry suppliers featuring innovative products, construction machinery, construction equipment, safety training courses, new technologies and unlimited networking opportunities" to provide the associate construction industry players new ways to sustain and grow their businesses". WOC, in general, is a trade event and meant essentially for professionals from the industry and special invitees.
